Villarreal are now only two points outside of the top six after they beat struggling Valladolid 0-2. Ángel thrashed home a spectacular opening goal from outside of the area in the ninth minute, and Llorente had a goal incorrectly disallowed a few minutes later after the referee thought he had handled in the area. Fabricio kept out Llorente again early in the second half, but Capdevila found Nilmar a few minutes later for him to head home the second. The defeat leaves Valladolid further down in the drop zone, and after rumours of late nights out drinking, the fans turned on their own players at the end.
