Bottom club Xerez ended the weekend ten points away from safety, although they stay in the battle after beating neighbours Málaga 2-4 for their first away win ever in the top flight. An early Momo penalty was overturned by goals from Duda and Valdo either side of half time. But Momo levelled the scores again, following up after his second penalty was saved by Munúa, and Gioda and Orellana added two more later on for the final result. Both sides ended with ten men, substitute Armenteros getting himself sent off less than a minute after coming on for an elbow on an opponent, and Duda getting his marching orders for handling the ball in the second penalty incident.
