With Barcelona and Real Madrid not meeting until Sunday, Sevilla came in to Saturday night's game against Málaga knowing that a big win would take them to the top of the table. However in the end they were grateful for a point after coming from two down to draw 2-2.

The visitors started the weekend in bottom spot, but they opened the scoring against the run of play when Fernando beat Javi Varas after the keeper could only push out Baha's shot. Luis Fabiano headed against the post and Negredo missed the follow up, but on the stroke of half time Duda made it two after picking up a mis-hit shot from Fernando.

Luis Fabiano headed one back though from Navas's corner, and after Javi Varas pushed out a long shot from Apoño, Luis Fabiano netted his second of the night to save a point for his side. A good result for Málaga though, the draw taking them completely out of the relegation spots pending Sunday's games thanks a better goal difference than the other three teams who are now level with them on seven points.
