Sevilla are just three points behind the leaders after they beat Athletic Bilbao 0-4, their fourth win in a row in the league and the fifth in all competitions. Renato surprised Gorka with a wide free kick to put the Andalusians ahead in the fifth minute, and although Palop had to make a couple of saves from Toquero and Llorente, Negredo made it two after Diego Capel set him up with twenty minutes on the clock.

Gurpegui and Llorente tried their luck after that, but Negredo hit the bar with a long effort, and with the first half coming to a close Kanouté scored his side's third after Gorka couldn't hold on to Negredo's short following a short free kick. Soon after the restart things got worse for Athletic when Amorebieta was sent off for a second bookable offence. And Jesús Navas drove the final nail in to the coffin with a fourth goal after running on to Negredo's pass with a quarter of an hour to go.
