Deportivo are up to fifth in the table after they beat Villarreal 1-0 in the last match of the weekend. Juca got the only goal with a well struck free kick which went in off the post in the seventh minute, but the Brazilian midfielder had to leave the field of play soon afterwards with an injury.
The locals dominated the rest of the first half, but Ernesto Valverde's side recovered after the break, Aranzubia making the save of the night to prevent Llorente from equalising. Villarreal ended the weekend though down in the relegation spots, and they desperately need a victory to get their season under way.
