Atlético Madrid just can't get going this season, and Abel Resino could be the first coach to pick up his "finiquito" in the new campaign after his side were held to a late 2-2 draw by Almería. The result leaves Atlético in next to bottom spot with only two points to their name, and they now have to face a tricky Champions League tie at Porto before visiting Valencia at the weekend.
The locals should have gone ahead with just over a quarter of an hour gone when they were awarded a penalty after Forlán was brought down by Soriano, but the Uruguayan striker drove his spot kick wide. And just a few minutes later Piatti gave the visitors the lead, turning Crusat's assist past Roberto.
Cléber equalised a couple of minutes later though after Maxi's shot was blocked by a defender. And after Sinama-Pongolle went close a couple of times either side of half time, Forlán put Atleti ahead after Chico's clearance was blocked by Jurado.
It seemed at last that the locals were heading for a first victory, but with two minutes to go Piatti got his second of the night to level the scores. And it could have been even worse had Roberto not tipped a header from Kalu Uche over the bar in injury time. The home fans were not a happy bunch!
