Sporting beat Almería 1-0 in the Molinón stadium to secure their first points of the season and leave Hugo Sánchez's side floundering in the lower reaches of the table. Diego Castro got the only goal of the game in the fifth minute with a shot from Lora's cross which took a wicked deflection off Chico to wrong-foot Diego Alves.
Both sides had chances after that, with Maldonado and Diego Castro going close for the Asturians before the break, and half time substitute Piatti replying for the visitors after the restart. However neither keeper was particularly troubled in the end.
