1-0. 54. Rossi. Drove ball back in to net after Aouate saved ahead of Llorente.
1-1. 75. Borja Valero. Struck long free kick low through crowded goalmouth.

Despite Villarreal's good form in Europe, they are having trouble getting going in the league, and they could only draw 1-1 at home to Mallorca on the second weekend of the season. A heavy thunderstorm late in the first half made play difficult, but Rossi took advantage of the conditions to open the scoring ten minutes in to the second half after Aouate could only parry a shot from Llorente. Borja Valero equalised though with a long free kick a few minutes later to keep his side up in the top five.
