Sevilla made sure of third spot and an automatic Champions League berth after a late 1-0 win over Deportivo. The Galicians were still in with a chance themselves of reaching the top four, and some great goalkeeping from Aranzubia kept them in the game until the last minute.
The ex Athletic Bilbao number one kept out Luis Fabiano in particular three or four times, but only a couple of efforts late on from Riki troubled his opposite number Palop. With a draw seemingly on the cards though, substitute Perotti headed in Adriano's cross to leave their opponents down in seventh spot.
Lotina's team still have a chance of a place in the Europa Cup, but only if they beat Barcelona in their last match and Valencia lose against Athletic Bilbao. .
