Sporting Gijón are running out of time in their battle to avoid the drop, and they stay in the bottom three after a 3-1 defeat at Almería. Carmelo did head them in to an early lead from Jorge's cross, but Nieto equalised before the break after picking up a deflected cross on the edge of the area. Kalu Uche put the home side ahead after picking up Negredo's pass ten minutes after the restart, and another Negredo assist allowed Piatti to make it three in the last minute.
