Deportivo kept up their push for a return to Europe, and they stay just a point behind fifth placed Málaga after a 2-0 victory over Almería. The game got off to a lively start, with both teams creating chances. The scoreline remained unaltered though until four minutes after the restart, when Verdú finished off after Bodipo played on Guardado's cross.
Midway through the second half substitute Lassad made it two after Mané failed to cut out a long pass from Filipe, and Bodipo came close to third with an effort which Esteban kept out. For once Almería's prolific striker Negredo was kept under wraps, although substitute Nieto came close to getting one back when he hit the post late on.
