An incident packed 3-3 draw between Betis and Numancia in the Ruíz de Lopera stadium on Saturday night, a result which didn't help either side in their struggle to avoid relegation.

The Andalusians had not won at home since November, but they took an early lead when Sergio García turned in Juanito's header on the far post. The Spanish international striker injured himself in the goal celebrations though, and had to be replaced by Edu, who himself was returning from a long injury lay-off.

Aranda equalised though before half time, and with a quarter of an hour to go Barkero put the visitors in front after Nelson was sent off by an over-zealous Velaso Carballo after giving away a penalty on Bellvis.

The game took another turn after that though, Capi levelling the scores once again and Oliveira converting a second penalty after substitute Pavón fouled Edu, earning the defender a second booking and a red card just four minutes after coming on supposedly to protect the result!

There was more to come though, and Aranda saved a point for his side with a third penalty after Ricardo crashed in to the striker. Once again the perpetrator had to leave the field with a second yellow card to his name, and with all three changes made Melli made a valiant attempt to stop the spot kick.

Two more points dropped, and coach Paco Chaparro's time ran out after he was replaced by José María Nogués a few hours later.
