Athletic Bilbao picked up their first win in eight games, beating Mallorca 2-1 to move above their opponents in the table. Things swung their way early on, Yeste converting a third minute penalty after Ayoze had blocked Susaeta's shot at point blank range with his arm. But after that the visitors took control, Arango, Varela and ex Athletic striker Aduríz all failing to hit the target before the break.

An under-the-weather Llorente went close before the half time whistle, but Castro brought a good save out of Iraizoz after the restart, and with twenty minutes to go Jurado equalised with an impressive shot from outside of the area. Iraola cleared off the line from Aduríz soon afterwards, but Athletic won it when Javi Martínez beat substitute keeper Lux after latching on to a cross from David López.
