Numancia have not given up the fight yet, and they stayed four points away from safety after beating Sporting Gijón 2-1. The Soria based side have picked up 23 of their 26 points at home.
Barkero opened the scoring from the penalty spot shortly before half time after Neru fouled Aranda inside the area. And although Barral equalised soon after the interval after Juan Pablo could only push out a free kick, Goitia took advantage of a defensive mistake by Gerard to nip in between the defender and the keeper to head in the winner.
Both sides ended with ten men after Juan Carlos Moreno and then Carmelo were shown second yellow cards. But the three points stayed at home, and although the Asturians stay in eleventh spot, they are still only four points above the bottom three.
