Atlético Madrid took a step backwards in the push for the Champions League spots after losing 2-0 at Mallorca, a disappointment after their recent good performances against the four leaders. The locals paid 120,000 to their opponents to allow Jurado to play under his loan agreement, and he caused some problems for the visiting defence early on. And midway through the first half the Balearic Islanders took the lead when Aduríz ran on to Arango's lofted pass to chip the keeper and score.
Agüero fluffed a couple of chances before the break, and Maxi fired a shot against the bar after the restart. But Aduríz was unlucky to have a penalty appeal turned down, and with the game coming to an end substitute Castro wrapped things up on a rapid breakaway, running on to Aduríz's pass to run past Leo Franco and ensure three important points for his side.
