Valencia are having problems on and off the pitch, and they drop down to sixth after losing 1-2 against Valladolid. Jonathan Sesma headed the visitors in to an early lead from Víctor's cross, and they went two up when Raúl Albiol turned Sesma's cross in to his own net under pressure from Goitom.

Only Morientes had caused any problems for Riesgo in the first half, and a few minutes after the restart the striker had a header cleared off the line by a defnder with the keeper beaten.

Marchena finally reduced the gap with a header from a Manuel Fernandes corner with just over a quarter of an hour to go, but they could do no more despite playing against ten men for the last few minutes after Pedro López was sent off for bringing down Morientes.
