Spain's two surviving UEFA
Cup sides met on Sunday, with Deportivo and Valencia maintaining their
positions in the upper part of the table after a 1-1 draw. The early chances
fell to the locals, Lassad and Filipe bringing a couple of saves out of
César. But midway through the first half David Villa intercepted a bad
pass from De Guzmán to put the visitors ahead.
De Guzmán tested
César again and Verdú shot wide either side of half time, and
Valencia were left with ten men when Villa picked up a second booking with a
quarter of an hour to go. Five minutes later Piscu equalised with a header from
Sergio's free kick, and Lassad missed a good chance to win it for Lotina's side
near the end. |
