Málaga started the match at Valencia with a chance of going ahead of their opponents in the table, but in the end the two point gap remained as the match ended 1-1. The visitors were the better side in the first half though, Duda firing an early free kick against the post and César having to save from Baha and then from Eliseu.

David Villa chipped a shot on to the bar at the other end before the break though, and a few minutes in to the second half he opened the scoring, curling an angled shot past Goitia from left of the area.

Scores were levelled six minutes later however, Raúl Albiol turning Eliseu's cross in to his own net after the winger had brushed off a challenge from substitute Carleto down the right wing. And Salva almost gave the Andalusians the three points when he just failed to turn in a cross later on.

The result takes the locals up to third and the visitors up to sixth pending Sunday's games. Antonio Tapia's side will be happier with the point though than the Ches.
