Betis recorded an important
1-2 victory against Sevilla on Saturday evening, the first time they had beaten
their city neighbours in the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium since 1996.
The locals were starting to feel the effect of their good cup run, but they
started well, Romaric having a goal ruled out for a borderline offside and
Navas and Acosta testing Ricardo either side of half time.
The game swung in the
visitors' favour though with twenty minutes to go when Duscher was sent off for
a second bookable offence, and almost immediately Melli booted the ball
up-field for Sergio García to open the scoring for the visitors. A few
minutes later Oliveira added a second on his return to his old club, and
Kanouté's header came too late to change the result. |
