Espanyol stay in the relegation spots after they could only draw 1-1 with Recreativo on a rainy night in Barcelona, although they will feel themselves unlucky after letting in an injury time penalty.

Honours were shared in the first half, with Nené shooting wide and Camuñas trying his luck a couple of times at the other end. But Nico Pareja headed the Catalan side into the lead from Nené's free kick on the hour mark.

Nef headed wide but Lola forced a good save out of Riesgo as both teams battled for possession. The game appeared to be heading Espanyol's way though until Chica and Pareja allowed Marco Rubén through in injury time, and Kameni brought down the striker as he advanced on goal. Red card for the keeper, and with Pareja having to take over in goal, Rubén slotted home the equaliser.

Another disappointment for the local fans, and having not seen their side win in the league now for two months, there is concern that the new stadium might be home to second division football next season.
