Sevilla lost ground on the
top two after they were beaten 0-2 by Racing Santander on Sunday evening.
Injuries and the tough cup calendar had taken their toll on Manuel
Jiménez's side, especially down the right flank where the coach had to
fill the gap with left-sided players. Even so Romaric tested Toño early
on, but midway through the first half César Navas opened the scoring
midway for the visitors after Palop could only push out Zigic's header from a
Munitis free kick.
Racing were left with ten
men soon afterwards when Oscar Serrano was sent off for bringing down Adriano,
but Zigic turned in another Munitis free kick after the break to make it two,
his third goal since rejoining the club on loan from Valencia a month ago. Luis
Fabiano, Chevantón and then young Finnish striker Pukki all tried their
luck, but it was not their day. The Cantabrians move up to ninth in the table
after a third away win in a row. |
