Barcelona thrashed Deportivo 5-0 on Saturday evening to complete the first half of the season with a record 50 points. Víctor Valdés was a mere observer as Guardiola's side dominate proceedings, Henry and Eto'o both going close before Messi picked up Xavi's pass and ran through past three defenders to open the scoring midway through the first half.

Henry headed the second from a Dani Alves cross a few minutes later, and Messi headed another good chance wide soon afterwards. And shortly before the break Eto'o made it three from close up after Aranzubia could only push out Keita's header from another Alves cross.

Messi had another effort saved soon after the restart, and Aranzubia had to be at his best to keep out a first time volley from Iniesta shortly after he came on as substitute. Messi headed another chance wide, and with eight minutes to go Henry got the fourth after Iniesta and Xavi combined to set him up.

A couple of minutes later Aranzubia was sent off for bringing down Puyol, and with all three changes made Juan Rodríguez had to go in goal. Eto'o had no trouble beating him though for his 18th of the season in the league, making it 16 wins and two draws in the last 18 league games. The fans left the Nou Camp with stars in their eyes. Even the dream team were not this good!
