Sevilla moved above
Villarreal to third spot after a 1-0 victory over the East coast side on Sunday
evening. The Andalusians dominated from start to finish, with Adriano going
close early on and Diego López tipping a header from Romaric over the
top. And with the first half coming to a close Renato got what was to prove the
only goal after Kanouté touched on Adriano's headed pass.
Adriano was causing havoc in
the visiting defence, and immediately after the restart he set up
Kanouté to miss an easy chance, and then crossed in for Renato to bring
another good save out of Diego López.
Eight minutes in to the
second half Villarreal's problems increased when Llorente (just back in the
side after a month's injury lay-off) was sent off for a second bookable
offence. Sevilla could have scored more after that, Luis Fabiano in particular
testing López a couple of times, but in the end they were happy with the
result. |
