Deportivo are having their best season since the "golden days" of Irureta, and they stay level with sixth placed Atlético Madrid on points after a 0-1 win at Almería. Chances were few and far between in a dull first half however, the only efforts anywhere near the target coming from long shots by Verdú and Negredo.

The first real save by either keeper came when Diego Alves blocked a shot from Lafita at the start of the second half, but the game swung in Depor's favour soon afterwards when Negredo was sent off for catching Lopo with an elbow as both jumped for a high ball.

Verdú should have given the Galicians the lead midway through the second half when he fired a penalty at the bar after Riki was brought down by Carlos García. The midfielder made up for his mistake though scoring the winning goal from Guardado's cross with a quarter of an hour to go. The defeat didn't go down to well with the local fans, who called for the resignation of coach Arconada at the end of the game.
