Two goals in the first
quarter of an hour gave Villarreal a 2-1 victory over Almería, keeping
them in second place in the table. Just thirty seconds after the kick-off Rossi
opened the scoring, the USA born Italian forward picking up Cazorla's short
pass before firing an impressive shot past Diego Alves. And his strike partner
Llorente got the second after Pires set him up a few minutes later.
Chico fired a shot wide for
the visitors and Rossi saw his overhead kick deflected over the bar by a
defender as the first half came to a close. And Crusat brought a couple of good
saves out of Diego López soon after the restart. With an hour on the
clock Piatti got one back for the visitors after Crusat laid back Bruno's
cross, but Villarreal held on after that to keep up their unbeaten record in
the league this season. |
