Atlético Madrid are
back to sixth in the table pending Sunday's games after beating Mallorca 2-0.
Kun Agüero returned to the side after a brief rest to score both goals
midway through the first half, the first with a lob over Moyà after
Forlán had headed on Maniche's long ball, and the second from an Antonio
López cross.
Before that though
Aduríz had been pulled up for a more than dubious offside, and after the
second goal Mario Suárez stung the hands of Leo Franco with a long shot.
The visitors had to change their own keeper at the break, Moyà having to
go off after injuring himself in a tussle with Heitinga, but his replacement
Lux had little to do, Maxi and Sinama-Pongolle both failing to find the target
the two times that the home side did get near to goal.
Leo Franco did have his work
cut out in the second half however, the keeper saving well from Arango after an
effort from Aduríz came back off the bar, and then stopping shots from
Webó and Aduríz. But in the end the three points stayed at home,
taking Aguiire's side back up to the European spots after a rough passage
through the turbulent waters of the big four. |
