Sevilla drop out of the
Champions League spots after losing 0-1 to neighbours Málaga, their
first defeat of the season. Adrián got the only goal on the quarter hour
mark, picking up a pass from Nacho to beat Palop with an angled shot, the first
the keeper has let in for nine games.
Manolo Jiménez had
been having problems with injuries, particularly to his forwards, but Luis
Fabiano was back, and almost equalised with a shot against the bar on the half
hour mark. The coach brought on Romaric at the break to strengthen his attack,
and within minutes he tested Arnau with a long shot.
Adrián almost got his
second of the evening though with an attempted lob which Palop just reached,
and the locals were left with ten men when Adriano was sent off for lashing out
at Jesús Gámez.
Even so Navas and Luis
Fabiano both went close, but once again Palop was called on to keep out
Fernando as he and two of his colleagues got free in front of goal. A surprise
defeat for the home side though, and Málaga move up to sixth after a
record fourth win in a row. |
