Valencia and Villarreal are still neck and neck at the top of the table after Valencia beat Valladolid 0-1 in Sunday evening to move ahead of their neighbours on goal difference. The locals were trying to preserve a 100% home record, and Renan had to tip a Pedro León free kick on to the post to keep the scores level. The keeper had to save from Víctor later in the first half, but David Villa had a lob cleared from in front of goal by a defender, and Sergio Asenjo blocked Mata's follow up shot.

Ten minutes in to the second half however Villa laid back a long cross from Joaquín, and Manuel Fernandes ran in to drill a low shot past the keeper. After that Unai Emery ordered his men back to defend, and Renan was in action again to stop efforts from Sesma and León. Ogbeche and Escudero also tried their luck, but when Valencia are in this mood they are difficult to wear down. Another victory for the Ches, and they have still only dropped two points all season.
