Espanyol are clear leaders at the end of the second weekend, the Catalans the only side to win their opening two matches after beating Recreativo 0-1. It was the Andalusians who dominated for much of the match though, Javi Fuego and Colunga bringing good saves out of Kameni and Camuñas shooting in to the side netting. The visitors almost took the lead though with a long chip from De la Peña which bounced back off the bar, but the Spanish international midfielder had to leave the field soon afterwards with yet another injury.

Colunga continued to create problems for the Espanyol defence, and only good work from Jargue and debutant Pareja prevented the locals from going ahead. Javi Fuego drove another shot over the top, but with Recre throwing everything forward, Tintin Márquez's side delivered the sucker punch. Roman Martínez came away on a quick counter-attack and passed on to Jonathan Soriano, who slipped the ball out for Luis García to drill a low shot across Riesgo. Espanyol head the pack, the only side as well who have yet to let in a goal.
