Real Sociedad moved
back up to the promotion spots pending Sunday's games after a 0-2 victory at
second placed Málaga. Labaka headed the first from a free kick
with a quarter of an hour gone, and Uranga made it two directly from another
free kick near the end. Real move to within six points of their opponents, who
themselves are now seven behind leaders Numancia after the Soria based
side drew 1-1 at Granada 74. Fragoso appeared to have set up a first win
for new coach Marcos Alonso, who took over midweek after Antonio Tapia was
fired, but Jaio equalised for the visitors in injury time.
Celta seem to be out
of the promotion race though after they lost 2-1 to Gimnástic.
Antonio Nuñez put the Galicians ahead with a quarter of an hour to go,
but a Mairata header and a Miku shot from an impossibly wide angle gave the
Catalans their first win in eight games. Nàstic move out of the bottom
four to the detriment of Córdoba, who were beaten 0-1 by Las
Palmas. The Andalusians had no reply to Marcos Márquez's second
minute strike, and they could now face a ground closure after the game was
stopped for ten minutes or so near the end after a linesman was hit by an
object thrown from the crowd.
Racing Ferrol find
themselves back in the fight to avoid the drop as well after they lost 2-1 to
Sevilla Atlético. Armentos scored two for the youngsters before
the break, with Alvaro Antón getting one back for the Galicians late on.
Hércules moved well clear of the danger zone though with a
convincing 5-1 win over Eibar. Rubén Navarro and Sendoa put
Goikoetxea's side two up before Biel Medina headed one back shortly before the
interval. A Sergio Fernández header and a Mariño penalty put the
scoreline beyond the visitors' reach though, and Ion Vélez completed the
rout in the last minute. (26.04.08)
Sporting Gijón
ended the weekend back in the promotion spots, a 0-1 victory at
Cádiz taking them back above Real Sociedad. The locals were left
with ten men when Miguel García was sent off early in the second half,
and Diego Castro took advantage to score the only goal soon afterwards, cutting
through the defence before firing a shot into the top corner of the net.
Castellón are only five points behind the Asturians in fifth spot
after a 1-0 win over bottom club Poli Ejido, López Garay scoring
the winner from Txiki's corner midway through the second half. Poli are now six
points away from safety.
Elche are now eight
points off the promotion spots after they lost 2-0 to Alavés
earlier in the day. On loan Deportivo striker Adrián got both goals for
the Vitoria based side before the break, the first after connecting with a pass
from Sergio and the second with a volley after Toni Moral set him up.
Alavés's win keeps them three points above the drop zone, where Albacete
and Xerez both picked up a point. Albacete drew 2-2 at Tenerife,
Iker Begoña giving them a twentieth minute lead before strikes from
Longás and Nino turned the scoreline around just seven minutes later,
Azkorra heading the equaliser later on. And Xerez also drew 2-2 at
Salamanca, Pedro Ríos and Yordi overturning Quique
Martín's early strike, but David Rodríguez levelling the scores
again just before the break. (27.04.08) |
