The scoreline of the weekend
was surely Mallorca's 7-1 victory over Recreativo, the Balearic Islanders
biggest tally ever in the top flight. Güiza set up Arango for the opener
with just over fifteen minutes on the clock, and scored two more himself in the
next quarter of an hour, the first with a shot on the turn and the second after
controlling a pass from Basinas.
Borja Valero made it four
after an electrifying run by Ibagaza, and although Marco Rubén headed
one back from Barber's cross, Valero got his second of the evening before the
break with a shot which trickled past two defenders.
The rout continued after the
break, Arango completing his hat-trick with two more in the first five minutes,
the first into an empty net after Güiza squared across, and the second
with a shot from a wide angle through the legs of a defender. Sinama-Pongolle
missed a chance to save some pride and Sorrentino finally saved one from Tuni,
but Recre were completely humiliated, and they stay down in the relegation zone
as a result. . |
