Llorente. Fired shot past Notario after Sesma headed back Borja cross.
Murcia drop deeper into the
relegation zone after losing 0-1 to Valladolid, and coach Lucas Alcaraz could
be on his way out when the board meet later this week. His side have only
picked up one point now from seven games, and they were beaten again thanks to
a goal from Llorente four minutes before the break, the striker volleying a
shot past Notario after Jonathan Sesma headed back a cross from Borja.
Up to that point only Goitom
had tested either keeper, and he was replaced by Iñigo at the break. The
locals could have equalised when a long cross from Peña bounced off the
bar, but they were unable to create further chances in the rainy conditions.
The visitors almost went further ahead when Llorente was unable to beat Notario
later on, but they had already done enough for a win which takes them up to
eleventh in the table.
Murcia ended the match six
points from safety having only picked up one point from seven games. The local
fans chanted "Lucas, vete ya!" as the white handkerchiefs fluttered around the
ground. They may get their wish soon, but it would take the Wizard of Oz to
stop them from returning to the second division at the end of the season.
