Barcelona closed the gap on leaders Real Madrid to five points after a 1-2 win at Zaragoza in the last match on Saturday evening. Knowing their arch-rivals had lost, Frank Rijkaard's side came out full of motivation. And although Sergio García and Oliveira went close for the locals early on, Henry put the Blaugrana ahead ten minutes before the interval after controlling a pass from Deco.

Zaragoza had a chance to equalise before the half time whistle when referee González Vázquez awarded them a penalty after Márquez tripped Oliveira, but Diego Milito fired his kick over the bar. Valdés did well to keep out Milito again after the restart, but a few minutes later Oliveira equalised with an angled shot after picking up a through ball from Sergio García and holding off his marker.

The two Milito brothers were having a ding-dong battle, and Gaby made a vital tackle from Sergio Fernández as he lined up to shoot into an empty net later in the second half. But with five minutes to go González Vázquez surprised everyone when, at the instances of his linesman, he awarded a second penalty to Barcelona after Juanfran cleared the ball with his shoulder. Ronaldinho, who had come on a few minutes earlier, gratefully fired the ball into the net to keep this year's league championship alive.
