Espanyol drop to fourth
after a 1-0 defeat at Almería, the result putting an end to their
unbeaten run of seventeen games. Kalu Uche got the only goal of the game three
minutes from the end, heading in from close range after Negredo laid back a
Bruno free kick. The locals deserved the victory though, Unai Emery's side
attacking straight from the kick off. Mané and Crusat failed to hit the
target early on, Negredo had a goal disallowed and Lafuente made a double save
from Felipe Melo before the break.
Diego Alves only had one
save to make in the first half from Luis García, although Tamudo had a
penalty appeal turned down and shot over the bar a few minutes after the
interval. Crusat should have scored though on three occasions, heading an easy
chance wide on the stroke of half time and wasting two more in the second half.
Uche's late goal settled it though, and Almería reach the midway point
of the season in a respectable tenth spot. |
