Zaragoza missed out on the
chance to close in on the European spots after losing 2-3 to Valladolid, who
climb out of the drop zone as a result. Oliveira put Víctor
Fernández's side ahead with just under a quarter of an hour gone with a
low shot which took a deflection off García Calvo.
But Mendilibar produced a
masterly substitution midway through the first half, Víctor coming on
for Sisi to hit the post within seconds, and then score twice within five
minutes, the first from Sesma's cross and the second after César pushed
out a cross from Kome.
Just three minutes later
Alvaro Rubio added an impressive third after a tight dribble through the
defence, and Llorente could have added to the lead had he been able to convert
a couple of chances early in the second half.
Zaragoza pushed forward
after that, Aimar heading over, Diego Milito having a goal disallowed for a
close offside, D'Alessandro firing a free kick just wide and Gabi shooting
straight at the keeper when free on goal. But it wasn't until the last minute
that Milito finally beat Alberto, and by then it was too late to alter the
result. |
