Betis ended the midweek
round of games just above the drop zone, only ahead of Getafe thanks to a
superior goal difference, after a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Osasuna. The
Pamplona based side won this fixture 0-5 the season before, but neither side
created much danger until Margairaz fired a long shot wide on the half hour
mark.
Ziganda had made eight
changes for this Wednesday night game, but even so they were able to win it
comfortably with three goals in a twelve minute period around half time. Melli
headed Puñal's free kick into his own net trying to clear just before
the interval, and Dady got the second after connecting with Azpilicueta's cross
soon after the restart. And Carlos Vela added the third after Dady set him up
three minutes later.
Dady, Vela and Sola could
have increased the lead after that, and the home side's first chances didn't
come until later on, Ricardo López saving well from Samoza and then
Juanito. Ten minutes from the end though they were left with ten men when
Damià was sent off for a second bookable offence, and there ended any
chance of a fight-back. Another defeat, and the local fans called for the head
of majority shareholder Manuel Ruiz de Lopera and coach Héctor
Cúper after the final whistle. |
