Zaragoza beat Almería
0-1 to clock up their first away win in almost nine months. Víctor
Fernández had to put out a makeshift defence, with Ayala and
Pavón suspended and Sergio Fernández limping off in the third
minute, and they should have gone behind with only two minutes gone when
Negredo's shot came back off the bar and José Ortíz missed from a
yard out. For a few minutes the locals kept up the pressure, César
saving headers from Carlos García and Acasiete, but Oliveira could have
put the visitors ahead when he burst through only to shoot wide.
The first chance after the
break fell to the hosts, Felipe Melo shooting just wide of the post. Zaragoza
wasted two easy chances at the other end, Diego Milito firing over the top
after a rebound fell to him, and Sergio García somehow missing after a
mistake by Cobeño left him with an open goal. In the end it took a
penalty to win it, Milito converting the kick after Cobeño tripped Oscar
with a quarter of an hour to go. There was still time for Milito to hit the
bar, and for César to save an injury time strike from Negredo, but the
away side had it, and they move up to seventh in the table as a result.
