A good result at last for Betis, who beat Mallorca 3-0 for their first win of the season and their first victory at home since the end of January. Sobis hit the post early on and then brought a good save out of Moyà, but the turning point of the match came when Ballesteros was sent off for a push in the face of Caffa ten minutes before the break.

Gregorio Manzano brought on David Navarro and Basinas to try and defend the draw, but on the hour mark Xisco headed the Andalusians in front from Caffa's cross. A few minutes later Sobis made it two, and Edu rounded things off with his sixth goal against the Balearic islanders since moving to Spain some years ago. Mallorca ended the day with nine men after Güiza was shown a second yellow card for protesting, and they drop out of the top six as a result of the defeat.
