Valencia are level with Villarreal near the top of the table after beating Getafe 2-1. In the absence of the injured Abbondanzieri, young keeper Ustari made his debut for the visitors, and although he made a good early save from David Villa's overhead kick, he spilled a Morientes cross into the path of Silva a few minutes later for the winger to open the scoring. Both keepers made good saves after that, but Villa made it two on the half hour mark, running on to Albelda's long pass to give Ustari no chance.

The visitors fought back after the break though, Pablo firing a free kick against the outside of the post and Manu having a goal disallowed for a borderline offside. Braulio finally got one back almost by accident, running the ball in to the net after a mis-kick from Casquero. And although Villa had a header cleared off thr line by Cata Diaz, there were some nervous moments for the home fans before the final whistle. Michael Laudrup's side have yet to win though in the league this season, and they remain in the relegation spots for now.
