Sevilla's nightmare week
continued, the Andalusians losing 2-3 to Espanyol for their third defeat in
seven days. Kerzhakov missed an early chance, but home-grown midfielder Angel
put the visitors ahead with a well placed volley on the half hour mark, his
first goal since joining the first team. Kameni had to keep out Kerzhakov
again, but a gallop down the wing by Riera soon after the restart set up Luis
García for the Catalans' second goal.
Within a quarter of an hour
though Sevilla were level, Jarque turning a Jesús Navas cross past his
own keeper and Kone heading in his first goal from Capel's cross. The locals
pushed for the victory and Kameni was called upon a couple of times, but with
three minutes to go Tamudo picked up a pass from Angel to win the match and
take revenge for being beaten in the UEFA Cup final at the end of last season.
