It's all over! Real Madrid are La Liga champions for the first time in four years after coming back from a goal down to beat Mallorca 3-1! Capello's side only needed to match Barcelona's result to hold on to top spot, but Arango hit the post in only the second minute, and Varela put the visitors ahead a few minutes later after Arango put him through.

Beckham, Raúl and Robinho all went close, but Madrid were struck another blow when Van Nistelrooy limped off before the break, and Varela almost added a second when he rolled a shot just wide of the post in the opening minutes of the second half. Beckham hit the bar with a free kick soon afterwards, but he too hasd to leave the field with an injury a few minutes later, giving up his place to Reyes.

By now Barcelona were four up in Tarragona, and Madrid knew they had to win. But Reyes gave them hope just a couple of minutes after coming on, equalising with a shot inside the near post after Robinho and Higuaín combined to set him up. Robinho had a couple of long shots saved and Maxi López was closed down by Casillas at the other end, but with ten minutes to go Diarra finally set the ground alight with a header from Higuaín's corner which Moyà could only push against the back of Basinas and in to the net.

A goal by the visitors could still have spoilt the night, but three minutes later Higuaín was tackled and the ball came out to Reyes, who curled a shot back past Moyà from outside of the area. Now it was all over, and Madrid had their thirtieth league title in the bag. Who would have thought it just a few months ago when they looked down and out, but Capello had pulled off another miracle, and now the big question is whether he will stay or not.
