Recreativo stay in seventh spot after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Athletic Bilbao, although the Andalusians felt themselves unlucky not to take the three points after dominating the match throughout. Aranzubia had to keep out Uche with the game only a minute old, and ten minutes later Sinama-Pongolle fired in a shot which bounced down off the bar just off the line. Cazorla and Barber both went close, and Sinama saw his free kick deflected over the bar shortly before the break.

The second half started in the same vein, Cazorla having an effort cleared off the line by Iraola and Aranzubia pushing out Uche's header. Amorebieta headed wide at the other end in Athletic's first attack, but a few minutes later the defender was sent off after bringing down Uche from behind. Rosu rattled the bar once again with a spectacular volley, but the Basque side held on for a valuable point which keeps them three points clear of the drop zone.
