Osasuna returned to Earth after their midweek UEFA Cup defeat, and they now have to concentrate on improving their league position after they were beaten 3-1 by Mallorca. The locals started well, Pereyra heading against the post following a corner and Jonás and Víctor both bringing good saves out of Ricardo. And shortly before the interval Varela fired the islanders into the lead after picking up a pass from Ibagaza.

The visitors came out well in the second half, Juanfran heading against the post before Raúl García equalised after good a good run down the left goal-line by Valdo. Jonás Gutiérrez restored the lead though following a spectacular run "a la Messi", and Jankovic finished things off after Arango's shot came back off both posts. Mallorca are now mathematically safe after a record seventh win in a row at the San Moix stadium, but Osasuna still have some work to do before the end of the season if they are to stay in the top flight.
