The highest scoring game of
the weekend was the one between the league's two revelation sides, Recreativo
and Racing Santander, who were fighting it out for a seventh spot which, after
the midweek cup results, looks likely to offer a route into the UEFA Cup. And
in the end the home side won it 4-2 to move two points above their opponents in
the table.
The game was only a minute
old when Uche put the Andalusians in front after Juanma played the ball in to
his path, but Colsa equalised soon afterwards on a rapid counter-attack. Both
teams had chances after that, but Recre raced two goals clear by the break,
Pablo Amo heading Cazorla's corner down past Toño, and Cazorla himself
getting another with a shot from outside the area.
Scaloni brought a good save
out of López Vallejo soon after the restart, but Rosu widened the gap to
three when he turned the ball in on the far post following a corner. Zigic got
one back a minute later after a lapse of concentration by the defence allowed
Balboa's cross to reach him, but that was their lot, and Recre could have won
by more after Rosu hit the post twice later on. Racing ended with ten men after
Rubén was shown a second yellow card near the end. |
