Zaragoza move to within a
point of fourth placed Valencia after beating their closest rivals
Atlético Madrid 1-0. The Maños were celebrating their 75th
anniversary, but they were distracted early on and could have gone behind had
César not kept out Agüero, and had Fernando Torres been able to
finish off another attack. However with almost twenty minutes gone Diego Milito
gave the home fans something to shout about when he ran on to a long
D'Alessandro pass to beat Leo Franco for his fifth goal in six matches and his
eighteenth of the season.
It was a hard and a times
bad tempered match though, and referee Ramírez Domínguez let
Diogo and Luccin off red cards later in the first half. César saved from
Luccin and Torres before the break and from Galletti in the second half, and
Sergio García came on for the injured Ewerthon to head wide at the other
end soon after the restart. In the end though the three points stayed in the
Romareda stadium, and Zaragoza had clocked up an important win against a direct
competitor for the Champions League spots. |
