2-0. 02. Arango. From close up after Doblas could only push out Víctor's header.

Two goals in the first two minutes of the game gave Mallorca a 2-0 victory over Betis. Both came from Ibagaza's corners, Pereyra heading home the first and Víctor getting on the end of the second to force Doblas into a save which Arango prodded back into the net.

It was the fastest start to a game in 16 years in the first division, but after that the defences were on top, the locals consolidating their lead and not taking any risks for the rest of the match. Moyà was called upon to save from Robert and Sobis, and Assunçao tried his luck with a couple of long free kicks, but there was no way through a well ordered defence.

Ibagaza had a penalty appeal turned down as the locals ventured timidly afoot with the game reaching it's later stages. But the Balearic Islanders had already done enough for their fourth home win in a row, a result which handed Luis Fernández's side their first defeat in ten league games.
