The battle to avoid the
relegation spots is hotting up after the bottom two clubs both won. Real
Sociedad followed in the footsteps of Nàstic, recording their first
victory since the beginning of January after beating Mallorca 3-1.
The first chance fell to
Ibagaza, but Herrera missed a couple of opportunities before Savio got on the
end of Xabi Prieto's pass to squeeze a shot under the legs of a couple of
players and in to the net off the post. It was the ex Real Madrid and Zaragoza
midfielder's first goal since joining the club in the winter.
The lead only lasted a few
minutes though before Ibagaza equalised with an impressive shot from outside of
the area. But with the first half coming to a close, Kovacevic put his side
back in front after collecting the ball on his chest and turning past
Ballesteros before beating Moyà, his first goal in almost 17 months.
Kovacevic headed just wide
following a corner soon after the restart, but his side suffered a blow when
Mikel González was sent off for a second bookable offence. Mallorca came
out looking for the equaliser and forced Bravo in to a couple of good saves.
But with the crowd whistling for full time, Xabi Prieto got away on a
counter-attack, rounded Ramis and slipped a shot past Moyà to tie up
what was only their third victory of the season. |
