Agüero. Controlled cross from Seitaridis and shot wide of Aranzubia.
Atlético Madrid took
advantage of Valencia's defeat to move up level with the fourth placed
Chés on points thanks to a 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. Javier
Aguirre's side's home record is not that great though, and they had a few
problems in the first half, with Gabilondo scuffing his shot when free on goal,
and Aduríz also wasting an easy chance before the break.
Fernando Torres and
Agüero were creating some chances but were unable to find the target.
However midway through the second half Agüero did finally make the
breakthrough with a tight control from a Seitiridis cross before neatly
shooting past Aranzubia. Yeste hit the side netting with a free kick as the
Basque side fought for the equaliser, but the local defence held on doggedly.
The result leaves Athletic back near the drop zone, only out of the bottom
three on goal difference. |
