Espanyol returned to the top
half of the table with a 0-2 win against struggling Celta on a rainy night in
Galicia. Luis García took advantage of some poor defending to put the
Catalans ahead before half time, picking up a loose ball after De la
Peña's shot was only partly cleared. Moha had a couple of chances after
that, but otherwise the locals had the larger part of the play, and Kameni had
to keep out a Canobbio header shortly before the break.
A quick counter attack
wrapped things up after the break though, Rufete connecting with Moha's cross
to play the ball in for Pandiani to poke a shot wide of Pinto. Celta had a
couple of opportunities after that, Gustavo López firing over, Jonathan
testing Kameni and Bamogo also trying his luck. But when Tamas was sent off for
a second bookable offence it was all over, and with his side in the bottom
three after eleven games without a win, local coach Fernando Vázquez may
soon be looking for a new job. |
