An extraordinary result in
the Catalan derby between bottom club Gimnàstic and Espanyol, the home
side running out 4-0 winners to move to within a point of Real Sociedad. All
the goals came in the first half, but even before the first one Nàstic
should have been in front when referee Pérez Lima ruled out Portillo's
strike for what he considered to be a previous foul. Portillo got his name on
the scoresheet a couple of minutes later though, heading Juan's cross past
Kameni after a long play in the visitors' goalmouth.
Before too long Campano made
it two from the penalty spot after Pérez ruled that Lacruz had fouled
Portillo, another hotly disputed decision. And there were further protests when
Pinilla forced the ball past Kameni at the second attempt for Nàstic's
third, the veteran forward appearing to collect the ball in an offside
position. Moisés saw an effort fly over the top, and Portillo headed
against the bar at the other end, but with the first half coming to an end
César Navas got on the end of Campano's corner to head home his side's
fourth of the night.
With the game lost Valverde
decided to protect his best players, but Navas came close again before Riera
finally tested Bizzarri later in the second half. Kameni still had some work to
do though before the final whistle put the visitors out of the misery and sent
the home fans off dancing in the street. Nàstic move on to twelve
points, half of which have come against their opponents, but there is still a
mountain to climb if they are to avoid an immediate drop back to the second
division. |
